Hi Rob (and list)!
I have bought a number of old radios off Craig's List from out of
state, and even bought a truck for parts for the one that I own. I'm
sure that what you say about the distances away are correct, but I also
know that I've been able to find things that I otherwise couldn't get in
my own area. The advantage to Craig's List is that I don't have to
fight with somebody in the auction arena. I can usually talk to them on
the phone and get pics, info, etc. I will say that I usually do this
where I have somebody nearby that I know that's willing to put real
hands and eyes on the item in question, so that count's for something.
I've also found that if the seller really wants to sell something,
they'll deal with anybody from anywhere as long as they know that you're
honest and sincere, since there are a lot of 'tire kickers' and no shows
to deal with.
