IMHO:
Bubble wrap around the item is essential. And with tube gear, I use
wadded up newspapers to go inside INSTEAD of popcorn pellets. I hate to
have to dig out all the white Styrofoam pieces of pellets from inside of
equipment. Years later one can find pieces still stuck inside.

Putting eqpt in a box with pellets allows the equipment to shift around
and can easily get damaged.

First, remove heavy transformers, etc. if possible, and pack insides
with soft material EASILY removed. Then put the equipment in a sealed
plastic bag. Next, wrap it generously with bubble wrap. Then put it in
a box that fits tight. Then put that box inside another box with good
packing like large bubble wrap... or Styrofoam blocks, etc. neatly cut
if possible. Pieces are static charges and hard to clean up.

I hate pellets....pellets are for lazy packers and works the heck out of
the person unpacking........as well as badly broken pieces of Styrofoam
crumble and cling to everything making clean up difficult. However, I
will sometimes put pellets in a plastic bag and use it for outside of
the equipment box...between boxes. That keeps the pellets under control.

I know some will say, "as long as it gets there in good shape, who cares
how much trouble the unpack-er has"........ humph!

My wife is a fastidious house keeper and doesn't really appreciate
unpacking inside the house... what with all the dust that comes out of
the boxes along with static charged white foam particles. They get
unpacked on the back screened patio porch.....and I think that she still
peeks out at me..... :-)

So I pack for safe arrival AND consideration for the guy unpacking it.

IMHO. :-)
