[Boatanchors] maybe a relay?

If it is a 255A Polar Relay, the top comes off by turning it CCW and then 
lifting.

4 TRY 30 is not a Signal Corps Stock Number.  Syntax is totally wrong.  Sig 
Stk Nr's are all of the general format NXNNN , NXNNNN or NXXNNNN, often 
followed by other characters.  There are no spaces between the characters.
