[Boatanchors] [Milsurplus] "Voter's Oil?"

Yes, the Wahl company made (still makes) different clippers and related
items - at one time even a battery-operated soldering pencil.
When I was in high school, my electronics instructor was one Phil Wahl,
who is related to the same Wahl family. He is still active as W6YLD,
from Santa Maria, CA. Since I am now 67, you can do the math - Phil is
one long-lived son of a gun. He fought in the Aleutians during WW-II.
Phil gave me my Novice exam in 1958 - which resulted in my first
license, WV6DRO.
Phil was an old-school ham. He believed that kids like me should
build as much of their station as possible. He would haunt the
government surplus sales, obtaining huge piles of surplus that the
school systems could get for virtually free, and he would then pass out
the stuff to students like me. Some was usable directly, like ARC5s
and such, and some was to be scrapped for the parts it contained to
build something else. Taught me the value of a junk box. The lesson
must have stuck - my "junk box" now overflows two 40-foot "connex"
enclosed trailers full of parts, and another 40 foot flat-bed tailer
laden with reels of cable, tower parts and pieces of antennas.
