Wasn't Wahl a famous maker of barber's electric trimmers ?  I seem to remember Wahl's clipper oil recommended for applications (which I don't remember).

Sounds like Strowger oil. Not a bad guess, huh?

BTW, I don't think crossbar switches are lubed at all.
