[Boatanchors] FS: Collins 30S-1

I acquired this amplifier as part of an estate purchase. I have a 30S-1 and
don't need two.

This amp does not work. Slowly applying voltage with a Variac yields no
response - nothing.

The rectifier tubes were replaced with solid state rectifiers. Other mods
may have been done as well.

It appears as if the dial mechanism for the tune and load capacitors has
been restrung. There is a slight "binding" noise when tuned, and the
capacitors do not align with the dial markings as they should.

I just don't have the time or inclination to dig into it and get it working.

The good news here is that the power transformer appears to be fine! I
disconnected everything and applied voltage to the primary, and the readings
match up almost exactly to those for the Dahl replacement transformer. I
also checked the 4CX1000A final in my working amp, and see 700 watts out
with 70 watts of drive in the CW position (425 mils plate current), about
1,000 watts PEP output with 60 watts input in the SSB position.

Cosmetically, it's far from beautiful, but the front panel is actually
pretty decent. The cabinet has some scrapes, scratches, and dents. It's
wired for 220 and has a heavy duty connector. The left dial has one area
with a smudge on it, the right dial is fine. The fan motor mounts need to be
replaced.

I will not ship this amp - it's local pickup only. I will deliver the amp to
the Hazel Park Swap in Hazel Park, MI on January 16 if that is your
preference.  $895.00.
