Tungsram is still around.
Every now and then the stores will
have that brand on sale, ten packs
of bulbs for about $4. All made in
China.
The halogens that I bought yesterday
for the recessed lamps in living room,
I had a choice of some offbrand or GE.
I've used the off brand and haven't
replaced any of those yet, but decided to
try the GE units. MR16, 12v 50W, marketed
by GE UK, made in China with the US EAN
0043168 380027. So far, all of the failed
halogens have been Osram.
I just looked at a batch of bulbs I have
in the basement stock and it appears all the
Philips incandescents are made in Indonesia,
Sylvania seems to be a mix of Hungary and
Tunisia, so far. Could be that newer stock
Sylvania is indeed Chinese.
