[Boatanchors] Help with WRL Globe Scout 680 - short test

Folks,
I thought for a minute that Paul had solved a long-considered problem:
How to tell if an automobile coil is bad. I guess not, can't thread the
wire through the laminations.
I bought an Eico 1050 Resistance-Capacitance Comparator Bridge to try to
compare coil inductances, but couldn't tell if it worked. I bought an
Eico 944 Fly-back and Yoke Tester, but it showed good on the secondary
of a good coil and bad on the primary.
My next try would be a Heath Q-meter, but haven't managed to buy one.
Interesting concept, anyway. I'll keep it in mind.
