Ahhh, yes. Like an old tube type UHF TV tuner, with no RF amplifier, a 1N82 mixer diode, and a 6AF4 oscillator. Yes, the mixer could be worse in terms of noise. Shades of the old AN/APR-4 SIGINT receiver. I donated one of these with a couple of tuning units to a local air museum a while back.
