Don,
It is a noise limiter adapter kit for the TCS receivers. Works in any
model from TCS to TCS-15 (both Collins and non-Collins). I don't know of any
other model Navy receiver that it would work in as the TCS's 12SQ7 circuit is
a trifle unusual (2nd detector, 1st Audio, and BFO). Probably about 10% of
the receivers I have had through here have had a kit installed.
The complete kit consists of two boxes taped together. One contains two
spare tubes (12H6 and 12SQ7). The other contains the items shown in your
photograph plus an escutcheon plate engraved with the legends for the ON-OFF
toggle switch and the new rotary switch (the rotary switch replaces the
existing BFO ON-OFF toggle switch). Fair had them years ago but I don't think that
I've seen them in the catalog in recent years. Can't recall what they were
getting for them. I have a bunch of them and currently sell them for
$27.50 fixed price.
The spares box is the same size as the box in your photo. The escutcheon
plate is black with raised aluminum lettering and roughly 2" x 3". with two
holes in it for the two switches (no holes in the corners). You should
probably look around the SK's shack for the plate unless you have it but didn't
include it in the photo. The spare tubes are less important. There may have
been a couple of pieces of loose wire in the kit as well (but I wouldn't
worry about that). I think that's all, but I haven't opened a box since I
installed one in my TCS-14 about 16 years ago.
