Been through 4 here on the east coast, not counting the ones I slept
through. First one was in the late 80s when I was running a 1 hour
photo lab in Waterbury, VT. Thought the evening freight was passing
out back, but when I opened the door there was no train, just
rumbling. The shop was in a strip mall built on a concrete slab. The
front windows were nearly floor to ceiling, and they were bowing in
and out enough to notice, so I headed to the front door. It was like
running across large marbles or ball bearings. Probably lasted close
to 30 seconds, and was the worst one I've been in.

You're right about the 5 seconds of shaking yesterday - that was the
strongest part here, then it tapered off to more of a vibrating hum
type of feel for another 8-10 seconds at most.

There's definitely a lot of boatanchor content, even if much of it is
brought along by Al, Nick, JP and the rest of the guys on Boatanchor
Row. Quite a bit of milsurplus gear, too. Last year one of the guys
got himself another ART-13 and a pair of BC-348s, or maybe it's the
other way around. I've done well to bring home small parts only, mic
connectors and such. I've got too many projects already. Picked up a
Clegg 22er MKII there as a parts donor only to get it home and
discover it worked fine. Now I can't bring myself to tear it apart.

Maybe you'll make it next year.
