Good Evening everyone
I am on a search for a small-ish receiver that would be a solid performer on
am bcb and some casual swl'ing
It would be for my 81 yo brother, yep, that would be my older brother.
He complains about a lack of sensitivity on am bcb on typical "table radios"
which limits his ability to pick up some distant station so he can listen to
his favorite talk shows when his local station cancels them for some other
programming.
The old Lafayette came to mind although I've never owned one I always
thought they looked like they might be a solid performer in a small package.
I like the fact it is transformer operated.
I have plenty of larger radios I could offer him but I know if it isn't
pretty compact it probably won't work for his household.
Any experience with one of these? Any alternative suggestions?

PS I don't know why he wants to listen to talk radio. The opinions usually
just get him all upset. I figure with general coverage he might like the ham
bands. Never too late you know. He is partly responsible for getting me
hooked 5 decades ago!
