Our High School had a BC610E that was the ROTC MARS Station... We also had a
ham club that had a DX40 and an SX99... When we were in uniform we could use
the MARS Station on the ham bands and when we went to electronics class we
would use the club station so we got a lot of hamming down at school. We had
about 10 or 15 hams in the school plus two adult hams...Good Old BANGOR HIGH
in Bangor Me...

Did I ever mention that my novice station was a BC-610-E? The exciter
section, that is. Rig actually belonged to AF MARS but wasn't being used
after
we received a new Eldico S-Line clone. So no one minded when I pulled the
250TH and bypassed it. Only had one crystal in the 80 Meter Novice band.
Needless to say, I didn't make a lot of contacts. :-) Receiver was an
S-76,
which stayed on the crystal freq. Used the Eldico to check up and down the
band.
