[Boatanchors] Wafer switch lubrication preferences

Curt,
Often the problem is the switch is binding where the shaft goes through
the panel mount/bushing. I have had good success freeing these up by
adding a few drops of synthetic motor oil (I use 0W-20) where the shaft
enters the bushing. In severe cases, heating the shaft a bit first with
a soldering iron and then applying the oil as it cools works better. If
this doesn't work, the shaft is generally held in place with a c clip or
similar and you can remove this and the entire shaft to clean/lubricate.
Add a drop of oil to each ball bearing if it uses a ball type detent
system.
This oil adding procedure can also be used for binding potentiometer
shafts but I wouldn't advise disassembly.

So far, I have avoided using de-oxit on any of my rigs, maintly because
none exhibit contact problems. Also, have read horror stories of damage
done using de-oxit, so will confine use to contacts that aren't working
correctly.
My recently acquired Eico 723's band selector switch doesn't move as
easily as it should, but contact is fine.
What is the preferred lubricant to ease mechanical movement of these
switches? I was considering white lithium grease, but thought would ask
first.
Thanks, 73 Curt KB5JO
