[Boatanchors] Crystals and Coax

Greetings to all,
I've been off list for awhile, its good to be back!

I have built up an external crystal pak to extend shortwave frequency
coverage to my beloved Drake-2B.

But (there is always a but), using coax, even the thin stuff kills the
crystal signal to the Drake's oscillator. In other words, if crystal X is
plugged into a crystal socket in the Drake, no problem. But using the
crystal outside the receiver, even with less than a foot of coax seems to
kill its output.

Anyone know a solution? special coax? Some kind of coil to tune out the
reactance in the coax?

Any ideas?
Thanks all, 73,
Keith, ve3ts
