Methinks it would not be a good idea! Using the 6146B/8298A and any 6146W with a code date of after around mid 1964 or early 1965 can be problematic on 160-meters through 10-meters and will be worse on higher frequencies. I do know that the Heath VHF-1 Seneca is very unhappy with the 6146B/8298A series.

I notice that a Swan 250 six meter rig uses 6146B tubes in the final.
What I'm wondering is if what Glen has stated about the swapping of 6146W tubes for them in Heathkit HF rigs also
applies to the 6146B and W versions being swapped in the Swan six meter rig ... i.e. the W versions can sub for the
B depending on the manufacturing date of the W?
