[Boatanchors] AC Line Protection for Boatanchors

To the person who originally asked about lightning protection, here's
a little trick you can try:

We can't always be at the computer checking on the wx so if you have a
rx that tunes down to 300 KHz you can fire that up, set the audio a
little low so it's a hiss in the background, not loud enough to be
annoying, and when you start getting some static that's your tipoff
that some storm is out there not too far away, then you can check the
wx on-line to see what's gg on. Lighting RF is strongest at 300
KHz. You can get a little cheap Grundig portable SW rx like the
YB400. I got one used on eBay for 50 bucks. Handy for all sorts of
things. You can read the mail on 75 m., track down RFI, I used it a
few days ago on 88.9 MHz to find a spot in my yard to place a yagi for
getting a FM bc station's strongest signal. It tunes down to 300 KHz.
Pull out the telescoping antenna about 2 feet and let is hiss. There
very well may be other "early warning" methods besides this one.
