If you will be using cardboard for anything at the TX-1 weight then use
only triple wall boxes. Pricey but conforms to UPS and FedWrex published
rules.

The hard foam insulation available at box stores is the best and it comes in
several thicknesses. Not cheap but a pair of 2 x 8 sheets goes a long way.
Use it on every surface in inner and outer boxes. It also conforms to the
rules.

Ive shipped and received many 75-140# packages in cardboard that have
survived when packed as above including a HT-9 from CA

Other times shippers cant follow simple instructions, use a single double
wall box with bubble wrap and peanuts. With heavy items these are usually
damaged and UPS/FedWrex will deny a damage claim. Stupid people deserve
exactly what they get.

HI Bill,

Well the 75A3 is much lighter. The whole package weighed about 70 lbs.
I have never shipped anything over 100 lbs so I have no experience to
go on. At that point, you might be better off going with wood (and
maybe even some way to hold the crate like slats cut in the sides).

If I were going to go with cardboard I'd consider the possibility of
removing the iron and boxing/shipping that separately.
