[Boatanchors] tube tester readings

Thanks Robert. By the way, this is a B&K 707. The switch positions are only valid if the tube is not one of the "common" ones in the top section of the tester. This is a dual section tester which requires only fil V and sensitivity for common ones which test automatically (no setup) once you plug it in to the assigned socket from the chart, then press the one or two test button/s as directed. I believe you are correct, the only way is to check the schematic. I am inclined to believe that the test 1 is the first section mentioned in the tube manuals.

  Dick,

What's his face sorta derailed your thread. Some tube testers (TV-7(*)/U for one) label the switches by tube element type and number the switch positions by socket pin number. I'm not familiar with the B&K but if it's made like that, set it up for the first section and check the switches against the tube base diagram. Others don't, and all that you can do there is to set it up for a tube and then check the tester schematic against the base diagram to see which section is connected. Then try some other tubes to see whether there is any correlation between what B&K calls "TEST 1", "TEST 2", etc., and what the standard base diagram calls and/or numbers the section being tested.

Another unknown is regarding dual section tubes. The chart shows a
test 1 and test 2 but no reference in the manual as to which section
    of the tube is which.

    Please enlighten me.
