DDT not "banned" for use against malaria. In 2001, more than 100
countries signed the Stockholm Convention, a United Nations treaty
which sought to eliminate use of 12 persistent, toxic compounds,
including DDT. Under the pact, use of the pesticide is allowed only
for controlling malaria. The use of DDT to control malaria did NOT
cease and continues to this day, 3,950 tons worth in Africa and Asia
in 2007 for ex. Still in use and still hazardous to the health of
wildlife and humans.
