I use tube "dampers", green wire (known for superior sound quality), and 
audio approved solder terminals (better and stronger highs).  Then, if I can 
afford them, black beauty capacitors.  "Dual getter tubes are better then 
single getter ones, and "silver top ones are also superior. "Grey" plate 
tubes are better then "black plate" tubes.  Also, $120 a pair RCA cables 
help too with gold plated tips.  (I notice improved bass notes).  Also, if 
you "age your tubes" in the cellars of an old monastery and bring them out 
from time to time during a "full moon", that will condition them to bring 
out their primordial tones to their fullest.  (Improves negative 
'kickback)."   Good luck!
