Hi Bill,
My only thoughts are nostalgic and non-technical, hi.
In the early 60's, I lived in Monrovia, Liberia right on the Atlantic Ocean.
My home/shack (about 300 ft ASL) looked right down on the beach and across
the Atlantic. At that time I had a homebrew amplifier (4-400A) and the
power supply used 4 866A rectifiers. I would often shut off the shack
lights and was more or less mesmerized by the glow of the 866's in the dark
room. I ran the amp in Class C, so only ran CW. What fun!!!! I'd love to
have those tubes glowing in my shack today.
I guess, to each his own, but if I had that Valiant, I'd be putting it
somewhere so I could see the "glow", hi.
Good luck with your endeavors Bill. Sorry that I don't have any technical
thoughts to share with you.
73 and Happy New Year.

Hi to the group. I want to replace the 866 rectifiers in the Johnson
Valiant with 3B28s (blue tubes are scary!). Any thoughts or experiences pro

New Years wish to all, may Washington DC stay out your lives and wallets in
the new year.
