There are a lot of factors other than the tube types
that affect receiver perfomance. Among them are the quality
of the compenents and the layout and shielding. Stability is
mostly due to layout and component quality although the
circuit design is also important. The receiver must be free
of spurious responses such as images and birdies. Tube types
are of secondary importance in meeting these requirements.
My guess is that whatever makes the SX-115 a good receiver
has little to do with the types of tubes used in it.
