One of my favorite techniques over the years, Les. I always referred
to it as 'gifting', though. Works best with smallish items, and
multiple tables that are cluttered and busy, preferably with boxes
around beneath. I can recall coming upon a crowded table, kneeling
down to check out the items in front, and setting an old AA5 bakelite
set amidst the stuff. Another I recall was a WWII telephone-type
handset with push buttons or a butterfly switch in the handle. Walked
by later to see the guy marveling over it to one of his friends, all
excited.

Of course, much of the ballast from back then (80s-90s) has some real
value now. Which makes it that much more amusing, since back then it
was more about the money to support the habit to get more stuff when
we were younger with less disposable income....
