That's pretty much what they're describing now.  I fabricated one out
of medical tongue forceps which worked just as well.  Just had to pull
out the rubber bits, reshape the ends so they'd grip round things then
put the rubber bits back in.  Ten minutes and a few swigs of coffee
(possibly Irish) or Diet Pepsi and it was done.  Which reminds me, I
need to make another set; my old ones got "popular".
