[Boatanchors] need multimeter advice

The DMM that I use every day is a Micronta (Radio Shack) model 22-195 that I got over 20 years ago for $10 new because it was missing the fuse. There was a spare fuse in the unit. I also have a very good Fluke as well as several of the Harbor Freight $2.95 units. Frankly, the Radio Shack unit is just as accurate as the Fluke. In fact, the "el cheapo" Harbor Freight units are very accurate. The only thing is that the Harbor Freight ones are not auto ranging like both the Micronta and Fluke.

It has been a "while" since I have even turned on the Fluke. The Micronta does fine and the Harbor Freight DMMs are so cheap that if I do blow one of them up I haven't lost any money.

I also have a pretty nicew Radio Shaft DVM that I keep on my boat along with a basic tool kit.  I don't have to worry about leaving it on as it has automatic shutdown!
