Lee,
There are a lot of good sources. Fair Surplus: http://www.fairradio.com/ is a good source for a lot of transformers. Depending upon the voltage you need you can use a 120 to 120 or 120 to 240 volt isolation transformer for the B+. Filament transformers are readily available new and used. Mouser www.mouser.com is a good source for new filament and low voltage (12,24 volt etc.) transformers. Hammond makes a wide range of reasonably priced transformers from filament to fairly high B+. Other surplus outlets like allelectronics and alltronics often have usable transformers available. Marlin P. Jones and associates is one of my favorite sources for modern surplus.
The lower power B+ transformers are pretty easy to find; it gets a little more difficult when you need high voltage and high current.

I need to build a power supply for a VFO - like a VF-1. I have not done this in years, although I remember how. My junk drawer is not heavy with transformers and chokes. No pun intended. Where do you find these things easily... Ebay? Antique Electronics? Suplus Sales of Nebraska?

In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. If you don't have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it. If you can't find any Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense. Is Common Sense divine?
