Excellent point about the metal tubes, they usually go cheap on the ebay,
because you can't see the color of the plate or shape of the getters.
Also I believe the 6BG6 has been suggested as a better than replacement with
a minor socket rewire and plate cap addition---or make an adapter. At least
it has the same heater current requirement. 6.3v 0.9a
