[Boatanchors] [Heathkit] Help w/ tubes

Any of these should work, assuming they fit physically:

6CA7
EL34
1614
6L6GB

The 6L6GB and 1614 have a somewhat lower plate dissipation rating (
about 5 watts less, if I remember correctly) than the 6L6GC, but should
work just fine. This power supply has had several iterations. I have
the somewhat older PS-4 version. The original configuration used
"plain" 6L6G" tubes, when it came out the "GB" and "GC" versions had not
been announced yet, I believe - or perhaps Heath just got a good deal on
a large buy of surplus 6L6G tubes. I think this supply had even earlier
versions, or at least similar in concept earlier versions.

If using a metal 6L6 or the 1614, remember to ground the socket pin
(pin1?) that corresponds to the metal shell on the tube, otherwise
charges can build up on the shell that will get your attention if you
accidentally touch the tube when operating! Of course, if the tubes
are inside a metal cabinet, this is not so much of an issue - but it is
good practice anyway.
