[Boatanchors] Capacitor Bridge Reccomendation

Hats off to Larry for his generosity. Here is San Diego, lots of gear has
been donated to the radio room of the Midway Carrier Museum.

I have a Sprague TO3, which I believe is similar to the TO4. (Have never
found a manual or any info on the TO3)
It is perfect for what you need. It has continuously variable voltage, with
a leakage current meter with a few ranges, and no need to hold a switch to
monitor. I have a couple of Heathkit cap checkers, but they use eye tubes
for monitoring current, and some of the larger high voltage caps will, when
good, have more leakage current than will open the tube, so it's necessary
to use a milliameter in series with the cap to measure the leakage. The
Sprague is a very nice bridge and leakage tester, and I use it often to
re-form caps. The bridge uses an eye tube, but just to indicate balance in
the bridge. Just be careful of the high voltage exposed when using the
leakage function.

Again, congrats to Larry for his generosity.

Hi John,

That's the least I can do. Being it Central Illinois it would be real tough
to get a Battleship up the Illinois river! However there were LST's built
about 40 miles North of here. A couple of years ago LST325 (I think that is
the number) visited here and both my wife and I enjoyed visiting it.
My wife is actually more of a WWII historian than I am. Probably because her

Dad was involved.

I will let you know how my tests work out. Actually sisnce I have my Eico if

either of the TO-4s work I will send it to you. Would you give me an address

that I should send it to.
Please keep up the good work keeping these very important historical
monuments intact.

73 Larry WA9VRH
