[Boatanchors] Multicore solder specifications?

I'd sure like to know what they did to the flux. I've had the roll for
several years and never figured out what the flux was. Whatever it is, it's
REALLY lousy! Solder won't flow good at all or "wet" the metal hardly at
all.
