Hi Barrie,
First, congratulations on finding an EX with the 160 meter coil
strip-they are not that common.
The EX is an interesting setup with a pair of 5Y3 rectifiers in
parallel. I would first check the voltage at the output of the choke to
see if it is normal; bad filter caps will result in low voltage. Next
check the screen voltage at the 807; I had to replace the screen
dropping resistor in mine which had drifted up in value.
It could just be an alignment issue but I would do the basic voltage
checks before I started an alignment.
