FWIW, transformers fail by overheating or insulation failure due to spikes.
To protect agaainsst overheating, I'd use a properly sized slow blow fuse
in the primary lead of each transformer to individually fuse them, NOT one
fuse for all.
A line surge suppressor will protect the transformers from a big spike.
That's all I'd do.
