Finally I have the front panel of my HX-50 restored as new through the 
application of a full-panel decal created by a local graphics company.  The 
scan was "lost" for three years until an eager beaver new hire went through 
the computer and found it for me. The scanned copy is available if anyone 
else decides to do a complete panel restoration in this manner.

I am proceeding to replace caps and resistors.  I notice several places 
where the schematic differs from the actual wiring in the transmitter, a 
practice not uncommon in older radios I suppose.  I'm wondering if there is 
any real difference between the HX-50 and the "A" model apart from the 
possibility that the latter included the 160M band?  Does anyone have a 
scanned copy of the "A" model which I could use for comparison?
