[Boatanchors] Old type coils

I'm not sure I see how a diamond weave coil is made. Google found
people selling them but no clues how to make one, and my old books
(20s & 30s) assume the person making them already knows how to do it.
I can see they're made on a radial spoke system that's removed after
the coil is made but it looks like the wire passes on one side of two
spokes then crosses to the other side for the next pair ... but where
it crossed on the previous turn it stays on the same side on the next
and crosses where it stayed. To quote Vinnie Barbarino, "I'm so
confused!"

With that, I know how to calculate the unductance of a basket weave
and a spider web coil from info found on the web. Do the same
calculations hold for a diamond weave?

BEst regards,
