[Boatanchors] Kenwood Twins Cabinet Color ???

Good Morning - 



In my extended efforts to restore my Kenwood T-599D / R-599D / S-599 "twins" I've had to completely strip the cabinet paint to bare metal due to some significant rust issues. 



Since these cabinets had been repainted (poorly) by a previous owner, I couldn't tell what the original color and texture actually was. 



It would help greatly if those of you who still have original finish "twins" could describe the color (black ,dark grey, etc.), texture (if any) and level of gloss (flat, semi, glossy. etc.) the y all had from the factory. 



I can have these cabinets powder-coated (high temp baked) as a high-end finish or spray them myself as a less expensive alternative. 



Any suggestions as to what paint finish & method would be generally acceptable as a proper "refinish" would be appreciated. 



My goal is to get as close as possible to having them look like the original paint finish as I can.
