[Boatanchors] Cleaning roller inductor in situ

Johnson Viking 1. Roller inductor is making only intermittent contact.
I don't know
if this is because the inductor is dirty (it is) and/or the slider and
rolling contact
aren't making good contact.

The assembly is, of course, mounted underneath the variable capacitor, so I
don't have much access to it. However, I can see most of the top of
the inductor,
so could apply a Q-tip or something to that. Also, I can probably get some
DeOxit to the rod on which the rotating contact slides.

Should I just start with a good blast of switch cleaner?
