There gazillions of 7984's used in GE MastR Pro lowband radios. A pair of
them gave 100+ watts on 30-50Mhz range radios. Two were driven with a
single 8106, with a solid state exciter. Had a huge machined aluminum
heatsink all around the tubes with heat transfer foil.

We had several hundred mobiles here in Kansas with Highway Patrol and road
maintenance crews, back in the '60s. They didn't like SWR very much we
found. Changed a LOT of them! I suppose on lower freqs you should be able to
get same results, if you have enough power supply. They were sort of GE's
answer to the pair of 6883's used by Motorola, then later the 97-136A01's

Gads those radios were heavy!

I have a few of these. Would like to know what configuration the amplifier
was built in and schematics, results: drive power required, input and output

power?

Somehow I just got a few snippets in this thread.
