Sorry, no time to post a schematic for a week or so, but here's a thumbnail:
7984:
- biased into Class A with 300 ohm cathode resistor (bypassed with 0.1uF)
- about 450V plate supply; 50V across cathode resistor with drive
- screen from potential divider (perhaps a problem): 27k to B+, 9k to ground
- 5k grid leak resistor
- L network designed to match 50 ohms to 5k ohms
(e.g. at 7MHz: 45pF total from g1 to ground; 10uH from Rockmite to g1)
- about 38W output
- 500mW or so input
- pi network output (left over from some other 7MHz TX project)
Apart from a somewhat mysterious problem with biasing up the tube (I now
suspect a poor solder joint or tube pin connection), this worked like a charm
with a Rockmite providing drive "power".
