[Boatanchors] question on the SB-610

Hi there.

I am rearranging my shack (seems I spend more time rearranging than
operating!). I would like to use my SB-610 to monitor my signal.

To simplify, I have a 1KW amp, then an antenna coupler and then the
antenna. Would I be better off placing the SB-610 before the antenna
coupler so that it sees close to 50 ohms on both its input and output?

Or would I be better off placing it after the antenna coupler so that it
can display my signal, which would reflect whatever the true SWR is
going out to the antenna?

Put another way, my signal will be going out into an antenna that will
not really have a perfect match. In fact, it might have SWR of 2:1 or
3:1 or worse - even though my antenna coupler is making my amp see 1:1.

I am wondering if this real SWR might have an effect on the quality of
my transmitted signal? If so, perhaps I should use the SB-610 after the
coupler to "see" what everyone else will be hearing?

Or does the 610 just give a hoot about SWR?

Thanks for the bandwidth!
Eugene
