Barrie,

I assume by "all the primary" you mean you tied 3 to 4 and took the primary 
reading from 1 to 5.  For a cross check measure 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 4 to 5 and 
see whether the numbers jive with 1 to 2 being 50 ohms, 1 to 3 being 200 and 1 
to 5 being 500.

But assuming that 1 to 5 is 500 ohms, the impedance of half secondary would 
be (using your exact figures) 3233.4 ohms.
