Hi Lee,

I have a steel chassis, never used, but has been stored for several years.
It is the size you requested, 17 in., X 13 in., X 3in.. The steel was
originally coated/plated with a thin layer of Cadmium I suppose and it has
several discolored spots including a patch of active rust on the under side
about 4 X 5 inches. I think it is perfectly useable unless your project is
going to the Concours d'Elegance, and then you would simply paint the
chassis.

It is heavier than aluminum, around 8 pounds unpacked. I live in zip 98053
so check out the postage for 10 pounds and you can have it for that amount

I can take a couple of pictures for you if you want.

Happy New Year,.....Larry in Seattle

I am in need of a 17 x 13 x 3" aluminum chassis for a homebrew project.
This is a typical size for amplifiers and rack mounted gear.

I know that they are available through Mouser, etc., but they also tend to
be very pricey. Does anyone know of a more reasonably priced source, either
mail order or in Southern Cal?

Thanks.
