The chassis ID is a stamp placed on the very first R-390A contract
delivered. The contract is date 1951, even though delivered until
either 1954 or 1955.
That Particular stamp was placed on the side of the IF module . It IS
Collins, and part of the first batch of the R-390 cost reduction issue.
It was loaded with "bumble-Bees" as you phrase it. The bypass ones do
from time to time create a Catch-22 such as Glenn stated. This is at
455kc not 50.
That is a Collins part No. It also has Mod 1 stamped on the top of the
chassis.
Whom at Collins designed this "may" be able to be found, but I do not
have it.
I have four different signal generators. I have 4 VTVMs, I have he
audio meter that the military issued. About the only thing I do NOT
have is a spectrum analyzer. I've made do with the Kenwood BP-8 built
into the SM-220.
I've spent my time working on engines as well, including the German
Taunus 2L racing engine.
It got personal to me when you posted that I should take my meds and see
a doctor immediately. If you do NOT, then there happens to be a very
different perspective regarding English. I may indeed be a Viet Nam
Veteran whom was in the rice paddies and jungles while others worked or
played with radio. I am NOT a trip-wire Vet. Just one whom put people
back together long enough to get them evacuated to someone that could go
beyond the scope of what I could do.
Ball is in your court. However, I'll state that you are not the
absolute reference nor authority.
