Hi Bill,

There is absolutely NOTHING at all wrong with enjoying, using, and gaining
mastery of a technology --- ANY technology!

I am just now at the age of 56 entering the sport of ultra-light airplane
flying. Why should I...? There are Cessena's, Piper Cubs, etc. etc. out
there to fly --- why an ultra-light trike? It can't possibly keep up with a
modern jet fighter --- it won't seat a gazillion people like a jumbo
jet...so why bother? What's the point...?

Because it is FUN, and I am actually LEARNING something out of it all! Ditto
tube technology: I'll wager that half of the jokers who scoff & mock you for
playing with "fire bottles" are totally CLUELESS as to what the IC's are
really doing behind the front panel of their appliances.

At least with YOUR gear, YOU do!!! And that's saying a LOT in this day & age
of Dr. Phil dumb-down instant gratification...

More power to you --- keep up that noble Amateur tradition of the compleat
Ham by being a "...tinkerer and experimenter." I salute you, and am proud to
consider myself to be one with you, & others like you!
