[Boatanchors] A good idea ---- Lamenting about the down hillspiral

I'm afraid I must concur!

The "boatanchor" crowd is dwindling everyday though! I was proud to be a
part of it before transistors took over. I dreamed of a small handheld
"walkie-talkie" that would connect me with the country and possibly the
world. It exists in what is now the magic of the cellular telephone.

Unfortunately, this has taken a lot of the "magic" out of just communicating
with just a few watts wirelessly without ANY "infrastructure", computers or
other "support", for a lot of the "newbies" in amateur radio. They have
truly missed the "golden era" of amateur radio which will never repeat
itself.

I have met a lot of swell fellows, both old and young, at hamfests, who
remember those days or are trying to relive the "era"!

73,
