The TX-1 Apache was the transmitter that the SB-10 was really designed to be used with. All the circuitry is already in place in the Apache. The DX-100 and DX-100B required the addition of a modification kit which included a mode switch that activated the output/input to the SB-10, 2 each 0A2 regulator tubes for the screens of the 6146 output tubes, 2 each SO-239 jacks, and associated other parts.
Penson's book references the proposed DX-10 SSB adapter which was never manufactured that was supposed to be used with the DX-100. However, considerable modification has to be made to the DX-100 series whereas the circuitry, including the mode switch, was standard from the start with the TX-1 Apache.
Now the original Apache transmitters came with a 6AU6 in the VFO which was changed (nothing required but to plug in the tube) to a 6AH6 for considerably better VFO stability after a very short period of time.

I don't know which one it was designed for - BUT it is in the TX-1 manual for operation and setup, and the TX-1 has the jacks for it.
