Actually, the only difference between the work necessary to add the SB-10 to the DX-100 and the DX-100B is to drill the back of the chassis to add 2 each SO-239 connectors to the DX-100. The DX-100B had those holes already in place.

Both transmitters require drilling the front panel to add the mode switch as well as adding the 0A2 screen regulators and the other wiring changes necessary to use the SB-10. Heath did have a modification kit for doing this. Unfortunately, unless you make the modifications to the VFO (change the 6AU6 to a 6AH6, change the regulator in the VFO to an 0B2, and then use the old 0A2 to regulate the B+ on the plate of the 6AH6) the VFO will NOT be stable enough for serious SSB operation.

I added my original SB-10 to my original DX-100 back in 1966. Shortly thereafter I modified my Cheyenne mobile transmitter to use with the SB-10. The VFO in the Cheyenne is considerably more stable than that in the DX-100 although the Cheyenne only has a single 6146 in the final. But, that arrangement served me very well my senior year in college.

If I remember correctly, the DX-100B was designed so the SB-10 could be added fairly easily. Much more work is required to adapt the "original" DX-100.
