[Boatanchors] Upgrade question

Of course, I was giving the North Georgia version of the required trials.

Actually, I agree with the sentiments expressed and think that the new 
rules are intended to sell more radios rather than to improve the Radio 
Amateur gene pool.  It's just that being a child of Incentive Licensing, 
I'm sensitive to the threads which imply that a person licensed after a 
certain date isn't really a ham.

While you guys were going through the challenges of getting a license in 
the old days, I was buying Fords with big engines, ALFA-Romeos and 
trying to achieve high-fidelity with no money.  Amateur radio wasn't on 
my horizon.

Now I have a Chevy S-10 with a four-cylinder and am trying to achieve 
high-fidelity stereo with no money and...maintaining a small 
Hallicrafters collection.

In the mid-90's when a "real" General Class ham encouraged me to get my 
license, I took the exams required at the time.  That's what everyone does.
