Lets not forget, way back when "Hector was a pup", you had to show proof, in
a log how long you were on and also had to have the "general class" for five
years before you could even take the extra class. Ah yes, the old Hartley
oscillator drawing, remember it well. Nowa days, ask a newbie if its
capacitor input filter or choke, they stand there, scratching there head and
why is that tube called a triode.

A comment was made about how much more difficult the 1960 era General exam
was than today's Extra exam.
I would like to add a comment that in the 1960 era the CW exam was also more
difficult than the recent CW exam. In 1960 the CW exam consisted of 5
character groups where the characters were random rather than the text most
recently used.
