Sure. The standard in the US is 1/4" -20 and taps, dies, and nuts and bolts are available in any half decent hardware store. There is also a larger thread, 3/8" x 16 ??. You can get adapters that screw into the larger size and reduce it to
1/4" -20 at a camera store (likely not a big box store)
